The East Coast Radio House and Garden Show would not be the same without the daily cooking sessions!
This year, under the watchful eye of well-known local chef, Sherwyn Weaich, the Discover Durban Cuisine kitchen saw many chefs take their turn at whipping up something delicious in the kitchen.
Two of the most popular sessions were held on Friday when cook, book author, amateur chef and COO of the Hirsch Group, Margaret Hirsch, took to the stand to whip up delectable treats with guests Simmi Ramnarain, runner-up and one of the stars of the BBC’s Great South African Bake Off, and well-known TV personality, author and the editor of the Gardener magazine, Tanya Visser.

In celebration of all things chocolate, Margaret and Simmi dazzled the audience with delectable chocolate goodies that included an unforgettable chocolate drip cake baked by Simmi and a sinfully delicious chocolate cheese cake prepared by Margaret.
Then it was Tanya’s turn to take to the stand, and she joined Margaret in the battle of the Omnivore (Margaret) vs the Carnivore (Tanya) with Margaret whipping up some of her favourite vegetarian meals including a butternut lasagne that was an audience favourite.
However, it was Tanya’s prawn parcels and grilled herby lamb chops that won the audiences vote at the end of the session.
