A 19-year-old was arrested by Reaction Unit South Africa after he and an accomplice allegedly stole scaffolding from their place of employment in the Verulam CBD, recently.

On the day of the incident, while on patrol on Todd Street near the Verulam Day Care Centre, reaction officers noticed the two men pushing a trolley with the scaffolding.
When they noticed the officers approaching, one of the men fled. RUSA officers apprehended his accomplice, who provided different versions as to how he obtained the metal objects.
Upon investigation, it was established that the suspect was employed at a construction site.
They had allegedly stolen the scaffolding and was on their way to the scrap yard to sell the stolen goods when they were intercepted. The suspect was placed under arrest and handed over to police.
