The Rotaract Club of Verulam collaborated with Mountview Secondary School’ debaters to host an informative youth empowerment workshop, over the weekend.
The national winners decided to give back to their community by empowering youngsters in the community. This workshop targeted pupils from grade seven to grade 12 that who wish to become more confident, strategic thinkers, inspired and improve their debating skills.
The national winners and members of the Rotaract Club passed on their knowledge to all pupils who attended this workshop.
This day comprised of interaction between learners, debating tournament winners and the Rotaract Club. Pupils enjoyed all the activities that they completed which included a debating session, essay writing and impromptu speeches.
The Rotaract Club even assisted pupils with some interview skills that will help them for future employment or university entrance interviews.
The club believes in developing pupils of today as they are the future of our community.
Special thanks were extended to Mountview Secondary School for allowing the Rotaract Club to use their premises for this event and to Mrs M Pillay and her debating team for passing on their knowledge and skills to the community.
The club also hosted a Party of Hope to raise awareness on cancer. The pupils were educated around this topic and were given cupcakes.
