Boy killed in train accident two days after robbery

Paramedics and reaction officers at the scene where the boy's body was found.

A grade eight pupil at Temple Valley Secondary School, who became a victim of robbery earlier this week, was sadly knocked dead by a train in Verulam, yesterday morning.

A case of culpable homicide is under investigation following the tragic incident. Reaction Unit South Africa responded to the scene after receiving a call for medical assistance.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found a young male, attired in school uniform, lying alongside the railway line.

He was barefoot, according to a report issued by the security company.

EMRS medics were in attendance and declared him dead at the scene. When his family arrived, they informed officers that the teenager had been robbed at a taxi rank in the Verulam CBD, earlier this week.

His shoes were stolen during the robbery.

Fearing for his life, the victim decided to change his route from his temporary residence in Russom Street via the railway station to his school when he realised that the suspect was known to hang out at the taxi rank, where he was robbed.
