Security officer killed in Cottonlands accident

The vehicle was extensively damaged in the accident.

A 25-year-old security officer was killed after he was run over by a Hyundai Accent on Ndwedwe Road in Cottonlands, yesterday.

Reaction Unit South Africa responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls from the public reporting the incident.

A report issued by the security company stated, “Upon arrival, medics assessed the man and found that he sustained life-threatening injuries, which led to his death.”

“The deceased was a security officer based at the King Shaka International Airport in KZN. He was on his way to work when he was run over. According to witnesses, he had his earphones on while crossing the road,” the report further stated.

The vehicle was extensively damaged in the accident. The vehicle came to a stop about 100 metres away from the point of impact. The driver was not injured. Police are investigating further.
