Decomposed body found in abandoned Verulam house

The decomposed body of an unknown man, who reportedly committed suicide, was found in an abandoned house on Amaan Circle in the Sanna Township in Verulam, yesterday.

At about 5:36pm, local security company, Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from a resident, who reported that a decaying smell emanating from the home.

Reaction officers proceeded to the residence and found the maggot-infested body on the upper level of home. The deceased was hanging from a nylon rope, which was tied to a wooden beam in the ceiling.

An overturned table was also found next to the body. “The race of the deceased could not be confirmed due to the extend of decomposition. The deceased was dressed in a yellow T-shirt, blue denim jeans and blue Adidas takkies. He also had a back pack on him. Police are investigating further,” a report issued by RUSA stated.
