DLC calls on president to conduct lifestyle audits on all elected public representatives

President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The Democratic Liberal Congress welcomes the president’s call for lifestyle audits on his ministers. “This will go a long way for ministers and their deputies to realise that they are the servants of the people of South Africa and effectively not squander the public purse,” said DLC leader, Cllr Patrick Pillay.

“Any minister found to have abused and flouted the laws that govern their responsibilities, must be sacked and removed from office,” he continued.

He added, “However, Mr President, while the buck starts and must stop at the top, corruption, maladministration and stealing of the public purse are literally experienced in all spheres of governments. The DLC is of the strong view that lifestyle audits should become a norm for all public representatives/servants.”

According to Pillay, effective service delivery can only be implemented when the crooks are caught out, criminally charged and fired.

“Corruption and self gain opportunities by elected representatives have crippled many governments of the world. South Africa is a great country to live in. Let us as all South Africans unite and rise above the scourge of corruption,” he said.
