Seatides Combined School was placed first in the Mafukuzela-Gandhi Circuit based on the school’s 100 percent pass rate achieved in the 2017 matric exams.
They won the ‘Most outstanding school’ award. The Seatides Class of 2017 did their school proud where 76 percent of the pupils passed with a Bachelors pass, the highest percentage by any school in the CMC.
Suvitha Lalli was the school’s top performer with seven distinctions, she was placed third in the CMC’s top 10. Lalli also received the highest marks for Maths and Accounting in the Mafukuzela – Gandhi CMC.
Seatides principal, Mr K Govender said, “I express my congratulations to all our Grade 12 pupils of 2017 and thank them for their efforts in maintaining the tradition of academic excellence that our school is known for. I thank all the parents and staff for their commitment and dedication.”
The Mafukuzela – Gandhi CMC held its annual matric awards function at the Spes Nova School in Phoenix on Friday, February 2.
Dr Rufus Polliah, chief director of examinations in the country, was the guest of honour. He presented a brilliant keynote address, where he said, “Do whatever good you can for your children, even if no one takes notice.”
Principal of Nkosibomvu Secondary School, Henry Chebukulu, was given special recognition for his position in serving the school and community loyally over the years. The Mafukuzela-Gandhi Circuit was the best in the Pinetown District regarding the matric results of 2017.
