Provincial Drug Task Team ‘cracks’ down on suspected dealers in Phoenix

The Provincial Drug Task Team apprehended three suspects in the Phoenix area for drug possession, recently. The first two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested in Hartside Place after they were found in possession of 180 mandrax tablets and 36 pieces of crack cocaine.

Police reports indicated that the street value of the seized drugs is 21, 600. They appeared in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court, with the case being remanded for further investigation. The third suspect was arrested at Rucklen Place after he was found in possession of 99 heroin capsules worth R1980, 00.

KZN’s acting provincial commissioner, Maj Gen Bheki Langa welcomed the arrests of the alleged drug dealers. “I sincerely thank the police officers for their efforts shown in tackling drugs in the community. I encourage community members to expose drug dealers by reporting them to the police. We will act swiftly upon receiving information and make sure that drug dealers are brought to book,” he said.
