A 34-year-old man was arrested by Reaction Unit South Africa after he allegedly raped his sister-in-law at knifepoint in Esnembe, KZN, yesterday.
At about 4am, RUSA was contacted by the victim’s employer who reported the heinous crime. Reaction officers were dispatched to the location and upon arrival, were informed that during the night before, the victim’s brother-in-law came to her room which is situated in a compound on a farm.
After she had opened the door, the suspect allegedly produced a knife and raped her. During the rape, it is believed that he also assaulted her and bit her on her face. After the suspect fell asleep, the victim managed to escape and fled to her employer’s residence where she sought assistance.
Reaction officers proceeded to the compound and found the suspect asleep in the victim’s bed. He was arrested and an Okapi pocket knife was found under the bed. While being interviewed, the man confirmed that he had raped the victim, a RUSA report indicated. He is currently detained at the Umhlali SAPS.
