Victim forced into boot during Verulam hijacking

The victim informed reaction officers that shortly after dropping off three women in Amouti, he was accosted by five suspects.

A man was forced into the boot of his Datsun Go vehicle during a hijacking incident in Redcliffe, Verulam, on Saturday night.

At about 11:45pm, the RUSA team were called out to a home on Redcliffe Drive after receiving a call from a resident, who requested immediate assistance for the hijacking victim.

The victim informed reaction officers that shortly after dropping off three women in Amouti, he was accosted by five suspects.

One of the suspects withdrew a firearm and instructed the man to get out of the vehicle. The remaining suspects then assaulted the victim before they robbed him off his cellphone and wallet.

The man was then forced into the boot of his vehicle. The suspects drove to Bufflesdraai where they abandoned the vehicle.

The victim managed to kick down the backseat and drove to a home in Redcliffe where he sought assistance. He suffered minor injuries during the assault and refused medical attention. The suspects are still at large.
