Pink Phoenix project manager, Leigh Reddy.

The PINK Foundation, a non-profit organisation which caters to youth from Phoenix, Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu (PINK),  will be hosting a beauty pageant at the Caneside Library Hall on Saturday, October 14 from 11-1pm.

The pageant is sponsored and co-ordinated by community based organisations, Sila Foundation and YMCA. The Road to Miss Pink project manager for the Phoenix area, Leigh Reddy said, “The Road to Miss Pink is a pageant held across four communities which form a single development node in the eThekwini Municipality. The project aims to provide life changing opportunities and development platforms for young girls, women empowerment and leadership training for the girls to equip them for the future and hopes to partner with the most successful skill development organisations in South Africa.”

“The Road to Miss Pink pageant is divided into three phases which consist of the auditions where 15 participants will be selected from each of the four participating communities. This will be followed by regional finals where each community will select three out of the 15 participants. The final phase of the competition will be the Miss Pink finals – a gala event during which Miss PINK and her runners-up will be selected from the top three winners from each community,” said Reddy.
