Panthers committed to youth development

Energetic Tongaat Panthers Athletics Club youth run to the finish line.

Tongaat Panthers Athletics Club remains committed to the Youth Development programme. The programme which kicked off last year continues this year with more than 30 enthusiastic children from the Tongaat area attending every Wednesday.

The club co-ordinator, Ms Maharaj, said they have noticed an age gap in their club, with members being in their early 40s and some in their late 70s.

“We need to attract the youth and get them more involved in sport. We are therefore committed to this programme and our aim is to get them to continue .The commitment and enthusiasm displayed by them is overwhelming. Their training bears fruit when they take part in the local 5km Fun Runs.They have become disciplined and fit,also keeping themselves out of mischief,” said Maharaj.

An invite is extended to all youth to join this programme which takes place every Wednesday at 4pm from the Flambel Pool parking.
