Repairs to Central Park Drive is to commence soon according to a report from contractors, Colas SA. According to Councillor Maggie Johnson, after numerous engagements between senior personnel from Colas South Africa and Council Roads Provision, an agreement was reached as to what rectification process was to be undertaken after the disastrous chip and spray of Central Park Drive.
“The test run was effected on Rustic Manor Road last month and overseen by Rickus Engelbrecht and Morne van Schalwyk specially brought in by Colas. Work commenced thereafter on Central Park Drive and a specialist in Chip and Spray, Chris Pretorious was monitoring that work. Unfortunately, repairs could not continue owing to the procurement of the good quality stone. Colas did not want to cause any blunder this time, thus the huge delay,” said Cllr Johnson.
She added that once the repairs are complete, a fog spray will then seal the road from the top and bottom. Cllr Johnson said the rectification process will be closely monitored by Brandon Naidoo from the Roads Department.
“After the entire road has been completed and the loose stones swept away, a fog spray will then seal the road from top and bottom. The finish will look like as Rustic Manor Road after repairs were effected,” she added.
Cllr Johnson assured that the other roads where complaints were received will also be attended to as well. She said she hopes that this time the residents will be satisfied.
