Pupil raped in pathway

A case of rape is being investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit after an alleged rape of a pupil on Monday.

It is alleged that the victim was on her way to school in the Phoenix area and while walking through a pathway, she noticed a man seated in the thoroughfare.

The said man called out to the victim and then began running after her. Phoenix SAPS communications officer, Cpt Louise Naidoo, said when the suspect caught up to the victim, he pointed a knife at her and instructed her to remove her underwear.

“He then raped the victim in the pathway and when he was finished, he fled the scene,” said Cpt Naidoo. Cpt Naidoo said the victim is unknown, however, an investigation is underway.
