Ngcobo had initially informed the victim that Spar in Mount Edgecombe was employing and needed five women. He stated that he was going to take the victim first as he was aware that she was desperate for a job.

The pair was walking through the pathway when suddenly Ngcobo alleged that he needed to use the toilet and requested the victim to accompany him into the bushes.

Despite refusing the proposal, Ngcobo pushed her into the bushes where he raped her and tied her hands behind her back using a shoe-lace.

He then forced the victim to open her mouth and tied a scarf around her mouth and head. He thereafter took a plastic packet and tied it around the victim’s head and left her in the bush.

The victim was unable to breathe for a while, however, she managed to untie the shoelace from her hands and escape.
