Homemade firearm seized in Esenembe

The homemade firearm which was recovered by reaction officers.

A homemade firearm was seized by members of Reaction Unit South Africa in Esenembe, upper Tongaat, on Saturday afternoon. While patrolling, reaction officers, Lenny Naidoo and Goodman Malinga were informed of poachers who were spotted on a nearby farm.

The officers patrolled the area and noticed a group of individuals fleeing. A foot pursuit ensued and this resulted in one of the suspects dropping the firearm which contained a single shot gun round.

The suspects managed to evade arrest. According to the local security company, the area is allegedly plagued by individuals who use hunting dogs to poach bucks and wild boars from private farms.
