Young rapper rises above obstacles

Young rapper, Sphelele Sithole, who is becoming quite popular in his community of Ntuzuma.

The obstacles of growing up in a small township has not stopped Sphelele Sithole (22), also known as Bravo Mochacho, from pursuing his dream of becoming a rapper.

The KwaMashu-born aspiring rapper began making music after completing his matric at uMtapho High School in 2013 and launched his single called ‘Fools’ and Meditation EP in 2016.  This year, he released the Black and White EP.

Speaking to the Phoenix Sun, the young rapper said he  chose Hip Hop music because he wanted to label himself as a musician and because he has his own writing style.

In his music, the youngster speaks about his life encounters, the community he comes from and his journey through music.

Sithole said the challenges he faces in the industry is that as a result of  a lack of funding and the proper marketing of his craft, he is unable to reach out to people through music.

“As a rapper, I try by all means to deliver the message that will revive the people through music and also my lyrics speak to all kinds of people,” he said.

He added that the he is inspired by himself and wants to collaborate with local hip hop artists, Nkosi Gaxi, Giraffe and other local musicians.

Sithole’s music is inspired by life and what is happening around the world. Lastly, he said his future plan is to perform around the globe.
