Phoenix man killed in car dispute

Another Phoenix man was fatally shot in the early hours of Sunday morning, after a car deal turned sour and an argument broke out between two men in Acara Street, Stonebridge.

Govindsamy Moonsamy was shot and killed at the scene while, Sugen Pillay sustained a gunshot to the shoulder and another man was said to be injured when shots were allegedly fired from the crowd during the argument.

According to SAPS communications officer, Lt Louise Naidoo, the two men involved in the dispute were believed to be arguing over the payment of the car when shots were fired from the crowd.

She said, “It has been reported that the shots were fired at the men, from the crowd. It is believed that the shooter is connected to one of the men and it is currently being investigated. Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting and appeared in court on Tuesday morning.”

Local security firm, KZN VIP were called to the scene of the incident and reported on their webpage that witnesses are claiming that the argument was allegedly over R2500, which was allegedly owed for the payment of a car. The exact circumstances around the shooting are still under investigation with the SAPS.
